Remy Hair vs Virgin Hair: What's the Difference?

Remy Hair vs Virgin Hair: What's the Difference?

You've seen both terms everywhere — but what actually sets remy and virgin hair apart? Here's what every buyer should know.

If you've shopped for hair extensions for any length of time, you've seen the terms 'remy hair' and 'virgin hair' used — and often misused. Understanding the difference is the key to knowing what you're actually paying for.

Remy hair means the cuticles are kept intact and aligned in one direction, from root to tip. This single-drawn alignment prevents tangling and matting, and gives the hair a natural, smooth fall. All of our extensions are 100% cuticle remy — you can feel the difference the moment you run your fingers through a weft.

Virgin hair goes one step further: it is hair that has never been chemically processed, colored, permed or heat-treated. Because the cuticle has never been stripped, virgin hair retains its natural strength, elasticity and shine, and it can be colored and styled just like your own hair.

A common misconception is that 'virgin' and 'remy' are the same thing. In fact, you can have remy hair that is colored or processed, and you can have virgin hair that has not been single-drawn. The highest quality — and what we source — is hair that is both: 100% virgin, 100% remy.

When buying, ask the supplier three questions: Is the hair single-drawn remy? Has it ever been chemically processed? And can you guarantee the cuticle is intact? A supplier who answers clearly and confidently, like ours, is a supplier you can trust.
